Visit of BMS link missionaries in May
In May, the East-Wessex cluster group of churches welcomed the Chadwell family to our Crewkerne building.
We enjoyed an evening of fellowship and food, as we caught up with Ian and Cynthia's work in Nepal, and their children Justin and Lucy.
It was a good evening, and we continue to pray for them when they return.

Family Praise services
We have continued to hold family services and on June 13th we welcomed a number of visitors as well as our regular congregation.
The service was led by Charles Freebury, and as usual included a wide range of activities and worship styles.

Club Rock sponsored event
On June 22nd our youth group for older children Club Rock had a sponsored events evening.
Held at Misterton Recreation ground, the group did several events, such as springing, rounders and quick cricket.
Each individual was sponsored for each event – the money raised going to Childline, and the Tearfund appeal for Haiti.
In total, Club Rock have raised over £155 for these two charities, and we commend them on their fantastic attitude and enthusiasm.

Kid's clubs finale
On July 6th, our kids clubs finished for the summer with our annual awards evening.
Both our clubs (Kingfisher club and Club Rock) met together for some songs, crafts, quiz and the all important giving out of awards.
The Cup for best attendance at Kingfisher Club went to Lara Hillier, the shield for best attendance at Club Rock going to Ben Sperrink.
It was a fun evening, and we are grateful to parents for coming along.
Check the website in the future for details of when our kids clubs start again after the summer break.

Church outing to Weymouth
For over eighty years, the Church has gone to Weymouth on an outing, and this long-standing tradition continued this year.
With around 45 people of all ages making the journey South, we had a glorious day relaxing and chatting on the beach and town.
It was great to have people with us for the first time, as well as people who have been with us for many years.
Thank you to everyone who came, and helped make it such a fantastic day out.

Coffee Morning
On February 20th, we began the first of our monthly saturday coffee mornings at our Crewkerne building.
Both the February and March coffee mornings have been very well supported, and we thank all those who we saw and contributed to the bring and buy stalls.
Coffee and chat continues at Misterton on Thursday mornings monthly, and we have been pleased to welcome new faces among us.

Mothering Sunday
We celebrated Mothering Sunday with a family service at our Misterton building.
We were delighted to be joined by members of St Leonards Church in Misterton, who also provided daffodil posies which were handed out to the ladies.
The service was led by Charles Freebury of Crewkerne Methodist Church, who provided a thought provoking and enjoyable service for all.

Easter Weekend
On Good Friday, we joined the other Churches of Crewkerne in a united walk of witness through Crewkerne town centre.
The walk was attended by a good number of worshippers, and included reading and prayers at the Henhayes Centre, falklands Square and the Town Hall.
The walk continued to St Bartholomew’s Church for a meditative Good Friday service.

At Crewkerne Town Hall during the Good Friday walk of witness
On Easter Sunday morning, we held a celebration and communion service at our Crewkerne building.
Several people took part, and our Pastor preached on the message of the empty tomb from John 20.

Easter Sunday at Crewkerne
In the afternoon, we held an Easter family service at our Misterton building.
The service was well attended by a wide variety of ages, and was led by our Pastor, our Administrator and Charles Freebury.
We explored Easter from the point of view of Celebrity, Authority and Divinity.
Our grateful thanks to those who helped decorate both buildings and provide refreshments,
as well as those who took part in the services. Your contributions were much appreciated.

Christmas 2009
We had our annual carol services at both buildings, firstly at Crewkerne in the evening of Sunday the 13th,
and at Misterton on the afternoon of Sunday the 20th of December.
A huge number of people from our congregation took part, for which we are extremely grateful,
with people of many different ages joining us in these services.
This year the money raised in the offerings at both services were split between two organisations;
the Crewkerne Voluntary Transport Service is staffed entirely with unpaid volunteers,
and is used by CMBC for our Womens Meeting outings; and the Barnabas Fund, which bring hope and aid for the persecuted Church.
We raised £362 for these two fantastic organisations, and thank everyone for their contribution throughout this festive period.

Both our kid’s clubs – Kingfisher Club and Club Rock - had Christmas finales.
Kingfisher Club had a Christmas party, which included party games and food.
Our older kids at Club Rock went bowling followed by food. Both were a huge amount of fun,
and we look forward to starting our clubs up again in the new year.

In December we were treated to a festive evening treat when CMBC was visited by the ‘Silver Tones’.
The Silver Tones are a musical group who treated us to a fun filled evening of music, food and quizzes.
Special thanks to Angela Russell who planned the evening.

Muller Homes gift service
On Sunday the 29th of November we had our annual gift service for Muller’s Homes.
Allan Blake, from Chard Baptist Church, led a fun filled and thought provoking service for a wide range of ages.
We are extremely grateful for everyone who donated gifts and toys for Muller’s Homes, and we raised £222 in the offering.

Harvest Weekend 2009
We celebrated Harvest weekend on the 26-28 September. On the Saturday evening we had our Harvest supper at Bilby’s in Crewkerne.
With good food and fellowship, it was a wonderful evening. Then on Sunday morning at Crewkerne we had our first of two harvest services.
Graham Pethick, a representative of Tearfund, spoke on Tearfund’s work in improving sanitation, and then in the afternoon at Misterton we had our second harvest service.
The Harvest weekend finished in tradition with our silent auction at Misterton on Monday evening.
All the produce of both Harvest services were sold, and the entire sum of £513 raised over the weekend went to Tearfund.
With many people taking part, it was a busy but successful weekend.

October All Together Praise
On Sunday the 11th of October we had our monthly ‘All Together Praise’. With a wide range of ages present, our Pastor and Charles Freebury spoke on the theme of relationships.
Misterton Open Day, March 28th
To mark the completion of the Misterton extension, the church invited people from the local community
and beyond to visit us and to view both the completed work and some displays of the life of the chapel over its 133 years of existence.
The new kitchen, disabled toilet and meeting room looked super, and it was great to be able to serve refreshments easily for the first time!
At the end of the day, we were able to give thanks to God for the completed building and dedicate it to the continued work of worship and mission to the community.
Mr Steve Roles, member of a local Brethren church, who had preached regularly at the chapel for nearly 40 years, gave a personal reflection of its past.
The building was rededicated for use by our Senior Regional Minister, Revd. Jez Brown.
The service ended with a stirring address by Revd Edwin Penman, BMS World Mission Co-ordinator for the South-West,
challenging us to move forward in our mission even when the going might be very tough.
The church is indebted to John and Pat Stuffins for all the work that was put in by them in preparation for the day.
They were responsible almost wholly for the displays, and for much of the catering as well.
For them, and others who have been part of the Misterton chapel community for many years, this was the culmination of years of dreaming, hoping and praying.
Baptismal Service, July 12th
The morning of July 12th was very special to CMBC as it witnessed the baptism by immersion of Wendy Green, Jan & Tony Wilson.
Tony had asked for baptism immediately after the baptism of CMBC teenager Simon Green on Easter Sunday, pictures of which u can see below the article.
In a very moving testimony, Tony explained the steps which had led to knowing he had to be baptised (which can be found in the website section ‘About CMBC).
Jan, Tony’s wife, and Wendy, Simon’s mother, had asked for baptism some weeks later.
For both, this was a momentous step because both had been baptised as infants in the Church of England and felt that they must take this personal step of commitment to Jesus Christ.
Jan gave a powerful testimony of her move into faith; Wendy, explaining how her recent increase in commitment and church involvement had made so much difference to her daily life.
The service was a very joyful occasion, including hymns and songs chosen by those baptised.
All three of Wendy’s sons took part in the service, as well as Alan Squibb, who had been asked especially to write a poem for the occasion, and several other people.
The church had been beautifully decorated by Doreen Raison, and we are grateful for the help of many other people behind the scenes, including those who provided the refreshments afterwards.
